Joseph Tillotson, Red Cross WSI, CPR
Hello and welcome....my name is Joseph Tillotson and I am the creator and director or swim310.
I currenly give swim lessons out of my home in South Torrance. I'm located next to South High School near the corner of Anza and PCH. It's a beautiful 20 yard pool which is heated year 'round. Rates are the same as for outcal lessons. I give lessons for ages 5 and up.
I got my start giving swim lessons in the summer of 2003 by teaching my neighbor's kids to swim better. Soon I was teaching many others in my apartment complex in the pool we shared.
In 2004 I became CPR certified and in the spring of 2005, I completed the 35 hour water safety instructor training course offered by the American Red Cross.
With six years of swim lesson experience, I have given swim lessons to countless numbers of children and adults of all ages and abilities. I am a former participant of several years in junior lifeguards, highschool water polo, and highschool swimming.
I pride myself on being able to tap into a kid's competitive nature for optimal results. Lessons are filled with lots of positive motivation and enthusiasm.
During the school year I am a professional educator. I got my education from Long Beach State and spent 2004 to 2007 on the Marymount College Math Faculty, and since that time have been the director of a private tutoring association for all K-12 subjects.
I believe teaching a person to swim is something one can be trained to do, but ultimately there must be a knack for teaching that is mostly innate by nature. I've made it my highest priority to keep only those who are great at what they do to remain in this network.
Thanks for reading...I look forward to working with you.
